Some teas shout their arrival. These three whisper — and that’s exactly why they belong together. From Fujian’s misty coast to South Africa’s Cederberg mountains, this box gathers the soft-spoken side of the Hive: teas for slow mornings, unhurried afternoons, and evenings with nowhere to be.
The three, and how to meet them:
Silver Needle — Bai Hao Yin Zhen — the crown of white tea: nothing but downy spring buds, picked a few days a year. Champagne-pale in the cup, with melon, honeysuckle, and fresh-hay softness. Water at 80–85°C, 3–4 minutes — and brew it in glass at least once, to watch the buds stand upright and sway. The prettiest steep in the shop, and it gives two or three infusions.
Chinese Greens — the original green tea, pan-fired in the wok the way China has made it for centuries: toasty, mellow, chestnut-sweet, with none of the grassiness people fear in green tea. Cooler water, 75–80°C, 2–3 minutes — never boiling — and a second steep waits in the leaves.
Rooibos & Honeybush — Africa’s amber-red gift: naturally sweet, nutty, impossible to over-steep, and completely caffeine-free. Boiling water, a patient 5–7 minutes, lovely plain or with milk and honey. The cup that closes the day — gentle enough for every member of the house.
Each pouch holds 100g of whole-leaf tea — 40+ cups apiece, and more once the white and green begin their encores. One note for the Silver Needle: those fluffy buds weigh almost nothing, so measure with generosity — two heaping spoons where one would do. Together the three trace a quiet day: green brightness in the morning, the needle’s hush for the golden hour, rooibos as the lights go down.
